Fee SIMPLE Friday: Pasta with Chard and Kale

Pasta with Chard and Kale by Order in the Kitchen

This week on Fee SIMPLE Fridays: an easy recipe that you can actually manage to handle any night during the week (but especially on Fridays when you are exhausted after a long week!)  Bonus: It’s a pasta that fills you up but doesn’t make you feel like you weigh 1000 lbs afterwards.  LOVE.this. Fee SIMPLE Friday: Boozy Berries with Ricotta

Boozy Berries with Ricotta by Order in the Kitchen

This week on Fee SIMPLE Fridays: an easy recipe that you can whip up to celebrate the Fourth of July and impress your holiday guests with minimal effort! The flavor combination in this is amazing and it’s so fresh! Make sure you get the best berries available (I would hesitate to encourage you to get frozen for this, whereas in other recipes I don’t necessarily think that would make a huge difference). Please try this and let me know what you think! Happy Fourth!!! Continue reading

Present Sense Impressions

Please bear with me as I work out all the kinks in the site like getting the right domain and trying to get other things set up (like figuring out how to get a plug in for pinning pictures and a recipe index!) I’m still also trying to figure out what I want these Present Sense Impressions to be. I’m thinking they will just be kind of like a stream of consciousness where I share things that I’m obsessing over lately, recipes I’m drooling over, and basically my life in general. It will be different from The Docket, as The Docket will generally be what’s going on in MY life, kind of like a “day in the life” type deal, where as the Present Sense Impressions will be more of a sharing platform where I send you to other cool websites and blogs to enjoy the things I’m enjoying at that moment.

Sweetapolita’s Cookbook! OMG y’all I cannot tell you how excited I am for this to come out. It’s coming out April 7, 2015 just over a week after our wedding (March 28). I swear it’s like a wedding present! This is an actual conversation that occurred between Matt and myself: Continue reading

This Week on “The Docket”

Hello all! I’m back with a new blog platform (still trying to get used to WordPress!) and am still working out the kinks in how I’m going to get my domain to point to the right blog. Fortunately, I have an amazing friend Marshall who agreed to help me on his day off to point my domain to the new site. I seriously don’t know what I would do without him! I also had some help from our work website builder (hi Bryan!) who sent me some helpful articles on moving to WordPress and how to back date these posts so they weren’t all dated 2014! So that change should be coming soon and there are a lot more fun things in store for the new OinK now that all of my old posts are moved!

First up, we have, as you can see above, “The Docket.” These will be my weekly posts (most likely on Sundays or Mondays) that give you a little peek into the life of the Attorney in an Apron, and what kinds of fun things are happening in my life that week (sometimes they are not that fun but still I can put a positive spin on most anything!)

This week’s Docket is extra exciting. Continue reading

Bridesmaids Boxes

Will You Be My Bridesmaid Boxes by OinKSoooo, in case you don’t follow me on Instagram, and since I’ve been SERIOUSLY neglecting this little blog of mine, I will share a little news…we’re engaged!!  I’m incredibly excited!  We are getting married March 28, 2015 and I’m very much looking forward to it!  Because we are having a somewhat small wedding (100 invites), our bridal party is small as well.  It includes my sister, Matt’s sister, and two of my closest girlfriends.

Now, I know this is a food blog, and yes, I will get back to food momentarily, but I just wanted to share a little DIY project that I did.  Continue reading

Baby Boy Stanley (Gender Reveal!)

Gender Reveal Cake from Order in the Kitchen

Welcome Baby Boy Stanley to the world!!!

Hello little one!  We are so happy that you are here! :)  My colleague, Laura, has just had her baby and thanks to my ridiculously poor blogging efforts, I failed to post the gender reveal party cake that I made for her many months ago when we first found out the gender of her little baby.  Here are the pictures from making the cake and the gender reveal party we had for her at work.  Now that you know it’s a boy, it may not be quite as secretive and exciting, but I had the best time making this cake!

10-Day Detox Review

10 Day Detox ReviewHello all!  I apologize for my extended absence.  I had really lost the motivation to post on here for awhile because I was having such a difficult time with posting things, that I just really didn’t feel up to doing it anymore.  Basically, for the last few years I’ve been operating with a PC, which I hate, because my Mac had died (after 6 years of incredible use).  I was so used to using my Mac to blog, that this change felt incredibly burdensome.  When I had a Mac, I could plug in my phone, the pics would upload automatically, and then I would be able to quickly upload them to the blog.  It didn’t work quite so easily with the PC.  I found myself emailing the pictures to myself (4 at a time usually!) and then downloading them to the computer, then searching endlessly for them in my downloads folder.  All just to post one blog post.  Too much!  So fortunately, I’m hoping my problems have been solved! Carbonara

Pasta Carbonara by OinK

So this recipe is basically my go-to once a week type pasta.  It is seriously the easiest thing to make in the world, and usually I have all the ingredients on hand.  This recipe hits all my sweet spots: easy, fast, cheap, and darn-delicious!  I could honestly eat it every single day and be happy.   Continue reading

Whole Wheat Penne with Roasted Asparagus, Sautéed Chicken, Spinach and Goat Cheese Cream Sauce

OinK's Whole Wheat Penne with Roasted Asparagus, Sautéed Chicken, Spinach and Goat Cheese Cream Sauce

Tonight’s dinner was finally worth posting… I’ve had a lot of things going on in my life (mostly good!) and have basically neglected the crap out of this blog (per usual since I started working), so I’m not going to make excuses, I’m just going to cut to the chase and give you the recipe :)  This came about because I had some stuff in my fridge that I had purchased with the intent of making other things and then had extra and/or never made those things (oops).  Here’s what I had, and what you would need, to replicate this insanely easy dish: Continue reading
